Retake Control in 3 easy steps

Updated: Jun 11, 2020

Transitions can create a loss of control, particularly if they are forced upon us, like losing our job through Covid 19, a corporate restructure, or any type of external changes that are, in most cases, not chosen by ourselves.

These external changes can create circumstances that are out of our control and lead to us personally feeling that we no longer have control of the situation and how to effectively navigate through it.

Often work and our roles are key factors in our identity and sense of self and when they are suddenly changed or removed it can be overwhelming. Our thought processes and emotional and information processing can be negatively impacted or compromised, leading to stress, decreased self belief and lower resilience.

This is when applying a Strength-based approach and profiling is so effective, as it enables a retaking back of control; exploring and leveraging our strengths and talents to imagine new possibilities, seek out new opportunities and transforming our mindset and environment to Power through Transition.

3 Ways to retake Control

1. Identify your Strengths - by identifying Strengths, individuals and teams see themselves at their very best and the value they can deliver, helping to overcome any negative self talk and limiting beliefs to rebuild resilience.

2. Realise your personal and professional value - by mobilising and capitalising on your individual and collective strengths and focussing on your potential. It's critical for successful transition.

3.Transform your transition experience - by maximising your potential you can create a new and powerful purpose driven identity. Seek out exciting opportunties, new roles and smart organisations that embrace a strengths based approach and enable you to succeed in your strengths every day.
